Fusion designed and completed a series of four terraced segmental retaining walls, each 6 feet in height, to replace failing existing walls. Although portions of the fill exceeded La Mesa’s 3-foot rear yard setback limit, the average fill height remained consistent with the ordinance’s intent. The terraced layout improved structural performance and reduced surcharge loading, while integrated landscaping on the terraces helped screen the walls and enhance the site’s natural appearance.
